On 27.12.2012 KTM paid us a visit with a DUKE 690 in order to measure the
elasiticity at the front and brake circuits. An engineer visited us carrying the
bike in a van.
After a presentation and some initial exchange of information, the vehicle
was moved to the workshop, where the measurements were prepared.
The bike was a develpment vehicle type DUKE 690.
Since ABS will become a must in motorcycles by law in Europe from 2016, the works are now
going on for applying the systems in the bikes. KTM has selected BOSCH products made in
their plant in Japan.
Several measurments have bee performed using the KRAUSS unit type VMBK in order to
train the engineer from KTM in use of the equipment.
The results of the elasticity in mm³/bar are important parameters required
by the software development persons of the ABS - control software. The
characteristics for the measurement can be choosen for variable use of
the measuring unit. In passenger vehicles pressure is generate up to 170 bar
whreas we reduced the max pressure for the bike to 80 bars only.
After end of the job the unit was rented out to KTM in oder to proceed with further
test on site in their R&D center in Mattighofen Austria.
